Frequently Asked Questions

What does tremoring feel like?
Some people experience tremors as small vibrations, often in their upper legs or lower abdomen regions. These may not even be visible to others. Other people will experience larger movements, that can vary in their magnitude and rhythm and occur in other parts of their body. There is a wide variety of ways to tremor, but when beginning it can often look a bit like shivering, without the sensation of feeling cold.

Most people describe tremoring as pleasant, sometimes even euphoric. There is no right or wrong way to tremor, and if you continue with TRE it’s likely that your tremoring will change over time. As a certified practitioner, I can help you work towards specific goals, such as changing the way your tremor or helping the tremors move through the body to reach problem areas (say, areas of a physical injury) and provide release.

While the majority of people find tremoring to be a pleasant or neutral experience, some people may find tremoring uncomfortable. There can several different reasons for this, and some may be resolved with one on one work with a practitioner; however, if after a few weeks you still find tremoring to be unpleasant, it might not work for you.

Will I be able to stop tremoring?
Yes. Tremoring is an evolved reflex, but one that is also controllable. One client recently described it as, "a movement that's happening on its own right now, but one that I also somehow know I can stop." As part of your first introduction session, I will demonstrate how to safely stop tremoring, at any time and for any reason. I will also help you learn how to self- regulate, meaning how to come in and out of the tremoring response and to learn when your body or nervous system wants to pause or stop tremoring.

Is TRE safe?
TRE is a safe and effective way to relieve stress for most people. However, not everyone may benefit from the practice. It’s important to note that TRE exercises have not been evaluated by the US Food and Drug Administration. TRE is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it is important to seek advice from a medical professional if you are experiencing symptoms of trauma. If you have a history of PTSD symptoms, I will ask for a one on one consultation to discuss your history and what symptoms you are currently experiencing.

I have a strong interest in working with clients who are higher on the trauma spectrum, or who have experienced PTSD symptoms - however, I also want to ensure that I am working within my scope of practice and maintaining your safety and comfort as a top priority. In some cases, I may refer you to another TRE practitioner with different qualifications if I feel that would best support your goals.

How soon does it work?
Most people tremor during their first session, and many report feeling a sense of relaxation during or after their first session (improved sleep quality is commonly reported after a TRE session). However, for others, it may take more than one session to help your body “find” the tremor response and learn how to self-regulate. TRE is intentionally designed to be a modality that you can use on your own - my goal is to be able to provide you with the tools and knowledge to safely and comfortably tremor by yourself. The time it takes to reach that point may vary. Everyone’s experience is slightly different, as we all have different histories, tensions, injuries, and body awareness. While I can’t guarantee that TRE will be effective for you, I will work to provide you with the best guidance and assistance in exploring TRE and how it might help you.

Where can I find more information about TRE?
There is a growing body of information about the practice and benefits of TRE and somatic modalities in general. You can learn more about TRE, its history, and other resources at:

How much does it cost?

Each client will need to go through an Introduction to TRE session, which is an individual session. This session is 90 minutes long, and the cost is $100. I will go over your concerns and goals, and then we will have a short tremoring session, and conclude with any questions that arise.

After an introductory session, subsequent TRE sessions will be 60 minutes long and cost $80. These sessions are meant to help you explore the different ways you can/may want to tremor and help you develop your own regular practice. In addition, in the future I hope to offer in person and Zoom group sessions.

After a few sessions, most people are able to safely and effectively practice TRE on their own, in their home (or office, or car, or bed.. I have tremored in all of these places!). TRE is designed to be a tool that you can learn and then use and explore on your own - ultimately, the goal is that you won't need me to find relief and release on your own through TRE.

If cost is a significant hardship for you, please reach out and we can discuss a sliding scale for payment.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you provide at least 24 hour notice before cancelling or rescheduling a session, you will receive a full refund (though it may take 3-5 business days to process through Square).
I know that life happens, and cars break down and kids get sick and sometimes 24 hour notice is not possible! I try to be generous and will usually offer to reschedule, but if you are a no-show or cancel frequently last minute, you will be charged for the cost of the session.
